New Features in Word Splash Pro 7.0

  1. JAVA PLAYER

Using Publish HTML you can now generate web pages that allow playing your puzzles right on a web page. This process uses a Java Applet to allow advanced game play. You have many options available to tailor the look and features of the playable puzzle.

  2. INTERNET UPDATE

It's now even easier to keep your software up-to-date. Software updates, companion software, data file add-on's and product news can be automatically installed right from Word Splash Pro if you have an internet connection.

  3. HTML JPG WORD LIST

When using Publish HTML to generate a Standard HTML web page you can now generate a JPG image for the word list. This allows you to use any font for your word list.

  4. HTML IMAGE PREVIEW

When using Publish HTML to generate a Standard HTML web page you can now see an instant preview of the puzzle JPG images that will be generated. This makes it easier when defining the properties for the images.

  5. HTML TEMPLATES

Publish HTML now uses a template file which can be edited if you want to change the web page's default.

  6. HTML TEST LAUNCH

Publish HTML now allows launching a test version of your web page in your default browser so you can inspect it.

  7. SAVE HTML SETTINGS

The Publish HTML settings are now saved with your puzzle. You can also save the settings to files so that you can recall them. The last settings used will load on start and you can create a DEFAULT.PUB file to create default HTML settings that will load for every new puzzle.

  8. NUMBERED SENTENCES

A pound sign can be used to to define a numbered sentence in the word list. A numbered sentence works just like a standard sentence (defined using a period), but it will be numbered when printed or exported. A delimiter can be defined on the Page Layout Window that will separate the number and the actual sentence text.

  9. SET LINE AS

The Set Line As item is found under the Edit menu and the word list right click pop-up menu. It allows quickly changing the word list line types. Simply select multiple lines and switch them from normal words, hidden words, standard sentences and numbered sentences.

  10. EDIT SENTENCES

You can now edit sentence lines in the word list without the puzzle grid getting cleared. Sentence lines are lines that begin with a period and are not placed in the puzzle grid.

  11. FIT WORD LIST TO GRID

If the words do not fit into the puzzle grid because the grid is too small (possibly because it uses a mask) you will now be asked if you want to delete some words from the list to allow it to fit. A list of ALL words will be shown. The list will have a check box next to each word. Words that could not be placed by the software will be marked for you, but you can change the ones selected. Press a button to remove the marked words from the list.

  12. GRID LINE COLOR

The optional grid lines can be set to any color using the Page Definition window. Past versions always used the grid font color.

  13. USE BLANK LINES IN NOTES

Text notes will now use any blank lines. Past versions ignored blank lines.

  14. OPTIONS WINDOW

A General Options window is now available under the Options menu. Many of the options found under the Options menu were moved onto this window.

  15. SET PUZZLE GENERATION TRIES

You can now set the number of tries the software will make when trying to place words in the grid and the number of tries at generating a puzzle before it gives up and asks you to make changes. You can increase this number if you are willing to wait longer. This can be assigned under the General Options window.

  16. LOAD WINDOW DISPLAY METHOD

You can now set the display mode to use for the load file window. You can choose between a basic display and a detailed display. The detailed display shows the same detail data as found in version 6.0 and takes longer to display. The basic display shows only the file name in the list, displays quickly, and shows the file's detail data only when you click on the file. You can toggle between the two modes using buttons on the load window's toolbar.

  17. SOFTWARE HANDLES MULTIPLE COPIES

A "Software Handles Multiple Copies" option is now on the General Options window. This was added for printer drivers that do not automatically use the "Copies" setting on the print window. Set it if you only get a single puzzle printed when you request more than one copy.

  18. GRID CASE

You can now select the case to use when building the puzzle grid by selecting one of three settings on the Grid Settings Window. You can choose Upper Case, Lower Case and No Change. No Change will use the exact same case as found in the word list and will place random noise characters in both upper and lower case.

  19. SAVE BUTTON CAN DO "SAVE AS"

An option is now available on the General Options window that tells the software to treat the Save buttons as a SAVE AS buttons. When set the save button always asked for a file name even if you are editing an existing file.

  20. TRANSPARENT MASK COLOR SHOWS AS HOLLOW BOX

On the mask toolbar, when a mask color box is set to transparent, the color box will display as a hollow box. This makes it easier to see when the color is set as transparent.

  21. ON-SCREEN GRID LINES

When working on your puzzle the gray grid lines that block out the character cells are now optional. Turn them on and off from the General Options window.

  22. RENAME FILES AND CREATE DIRECTORIES WHEN LOADING

When loading files you can now rename the files and create new folders right in the load window. These features can be accessed using both toolbar buttons and a right mouse button pop-up menu.
